PyCon Italia will be held near the old city centre of Florence, at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo (Lungarno del Tempio, 44 - not far from the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce).
The event takes place in a central area in Florence, so we advise attendees to reach the city by public transports (trains, airplane etc…). It’s possible to reach the hotel in few minutes from the city center.
Stop at central station “Santa Maria Novella”. From there the hotel it’s about 25 minutes walking distance (but we suggest you take it slowly and enjoy the city a little bit) or you can take the bus 14 (tickets: 1,50€ - the bus stop is located in “Piazza della Stazione” in front of “Monte dei Paschi di Siena” bank branch) and you can stop at “Via Arnolfo” (rigt behind the hotel, only 150m walking distance from there).
Grand Hotel Mediterraneo is 10Km far from Firenze Peretola (FLR) airport (also called “Amerigo Vespucci”). You can take tram (Line 2 - ticket: 1,50€) and from the airport you will arrive at central station (Santa Maria Novella); from there you can use the same instructions for people coming by train. As alternative you can get a taxi from the airport to the hotel (it will cost around 25€ / 30€).
An alternative airport is Galileo Galilei - Pisa (PSA), 80 Km far from Florence. From there you have:
Leave the A1 motorway at the “Firenze Sud” exit. Go straight on until the end of the junction that runs over the river Arno, turn left at the traffic lights and go straight ahead for about 2 km. The Grand Hotel Mediterraneo is on your right. That said, you have some options for parking:
Mediterraneo Hotel Car Park
The Grand Hotel Mediterraneo has a private garage which ensures an easy and safe parking for your car. It costs €20 per day and you need to reserve it with the hotel staff.
